American scientists claim that observing lights can find traces of aliens

At present, American scientists say that artificial lights may find clues to the existence of civilized societies in other worlds. The brightness of a celestial body changes with the distance of the observer, but this relationship needs to be distinguished, that is, whether the light emitted by this celestial body comes from reflecting the light of other celestial bodies or the light emitted by itself.

American scientists claim that observing lights can find traces of aliens

Through the detection of the urban lights of alien, clues to their existence may be found.

For a self-luminous celestial body, its brightness is inversely proportional to the square of the distance, and if this celestial body relies on reflecting the light of other celestial bodies, then its brightness should be inversely proportional to the fourth power of the distance. Relying on existing technology and telescopes, it is possible to detect abnormally bright areas on the surface of celestial bodies at this distance, and the limit resolution is about the size of a city.

The techniques used in this operation can also be applied to the inspection of other star systems after the completion of next-generation telescopes, such as the James Webb Space Telescope and the Large Magellan Telescope. These next-generation giant telescopes are expected to be built and put into use within the last 10 years. Detecting the light they emit may be an option to consider.
